mrc Press Release
mrc adds SmartLink ability to reporting applications
March 2010 Lombard, IL - Today, software tool developer mrc announces the ability to
SmartLink to and from reporting applications within m-Power. m-Power
is software that rapidly creates
web applications such as report-writing, business intelligence, executive dashboards, e-commerce, customer
portals, and wireless applications to name a few. m-Power is also used to modernize legacy applications in
a fraction of the time other approaches might take.
Users can now add SmartLinks to and from reporting applications using the m-Power application hub screen.
SmartLinks enable users to link together separate but logically related programs into one comprehensive
application. SmartLinks are most often used in one of these ways:
- Adding drill downs in graphs : SmartLinks make your charts and graphs clickable. For example, a pie chart of net profit over the past 3 years is much more useful if a user can click on each year segment in the chart to drill down.
- Links to other applications : Smartlinks allow users to link to an unlimited number of other applications. For example, an application listing current customers could SmartLink each customer name, allowing the user to drilldown to customer details and purchase history from the customer listing application.
- Hover SmartLinks embedded in the application : Hover SmartLinks provide the easiest way to add more information to an application without increasing the size. Using hover SmartLinks enables users to see more details about any information in the application simply by hovering over the appropriate data.
"Improving m-Power's overall ease of use is something we aim for with nearly every upgrade," says Brian Crowley, mrc's Director of Development. "I am excited about this upgrade because reporting applications are now much more powerful and easier for anyone to create."
