Today, software developer michaels, ross & cole, ltd. (mrc) announces the addition of the Timeline Template to the m-Power Project Exchange. m-Power is a development platform that rapidly creates web applications such as report-writing, Business Intelligence, executive dashboards, e-commerce, customer portals, and mobile applications to name a few.

The m-Power Project Exchange is like a free app store for m-Power users. It lets users share or download custom m-Power components, like templates, external objects, or User Defined Functions (UDFs). These components give m-Power users new features/capabilities or let them build new types of web applications.

The Timeline Template lets users create applications that display data in an intuitive, timeline format (as seen in this demo timeline application). Users can scroll horizontally through a data timeline and click any event for a popup box containing more information. While it has a variety of uses, here are a few types of applications that m-Power users could build with the timeline template:

  • Completed Project Applications

A timeline application could let users track completed projects and overall accomplishments for any department in the company.

  • Project Management Applications

Project Managers could use a timeline application to easily view progress of specific tasks in a project timeline.

  • Upcoming Events Applications

An IT department could create a timeline application that lets end users view upcoming applications/features.

Like all m-Power templates, the new Timeline Template includes all necessary application elements and uses the same 3-step build process: To build a timeline application, users just select their data, define a few specs, and click "build".

"The timeline interface gives users a simple and intuitive way to view events," says Rick Hurckes, developer of the Timeline Template. "But even more importantly, this new template lets m-Power users create some very useful applications that could really help their business."
