About the Position:
The Application & Support Consultant position provides first tier technical support via email and phone to customers. This position also entails many other facets of our company, including but not limited to: software testing, training, and the creation of on-line documentation resources. The ideal candidate is technical in nature, but enjoys interacting with end-users. This candidate would also describe themselves as a team player who is flexible to meet the needs of our customers.
Must Haves:
-Excellent written and verbal skills.
-Strong technical and analytical skills.
-Self-Reliant
-Enthusiasm for helping customer succeed.
Good to Have, but not Required:
-HTML/CSS/JavaScript
-Familiarity with Web-based business applications, SQL, Java
-Experience with AS400, AS/400, iSeries, System i, and/or RPG.
-Microsoft and Linux knowledge
-Flash knowledge
-Familiarity with at least one database such as: IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL, MySQL or Oracle.
Responsibilities fall into these major areas:
Customer Support (70%)
Application Support Consultants provide technical support to customers via telephone and e-mail. Successful candidates will have excellent communication skills and an ability to analyze and solve technical applications problems. He/she can guide customers toward accomplishing their goals. This requires learning the details of the customer’s business application, designing a solution, testing the concepts, and leading them to success.
Technical Activities (25%)
Application Support Consultants provide support on a wide variety of internal projects, including software testing, technical documentation, and some application design.
Customer Training (5%)
Application Support Consultants conduct m-Power training classes for small groups at client sites nationwide, so there is a limited amount of travel required. Application Support Consultants also develop new curriculums as needed.
Details:
This full-time salaried position pays competitively and includes benefits such as health/dental/vision insurance, paid holiday/vacation/sick days, and a bonus program. This position reports to the Software Development Manager.
