Graphing within Reports
Introducing the new and easy way to include graphs within your applications! The benefits of using graphing within your reports are many. Including many graph options (such as 3D Bar, 2D bar, line, Pie, and Speedometer graph) the ability to graph on detail, subtotal and grand total lines, and the ability to display multiple graphs per applications.
To begin, build your report application using the Report with Graph template and enter m-Painter. This is the defaulted m-Painter Screen (graphing grand total information). (Note: The image you see is not contingent on your data – it is just an image of a graph, used as a place holder).

Right click anywhere on the image, and select Graph Properties.

Under the Image Properties tab, you can select the type of graph you would
like under the Image Style drop down
list. You can also select the Image
Format of the image.
·
Options and Specifications under Graph Properties are explained in
each Comments section.
·
Under the Image Data
Collection tab, you have the option of specifying Graph Values and Graph Value Descriptions.
Note: There must be the same number of
entries under Graph Values and Graph Value Descriptions to make your graph
functional. This option controls what data will be sent to your graph.
·
You can add Graph Values by selecting the field and appropriate
level from the dropdown boxes and click Add. In addition,
you can change the level of every field selected by changing the level dropdown
list and clicking the Apply All button.
·
Similarly, you can add the Graph Value Descriptions by selecting
the fields from the Graph Value Descriptions dropdown box and clicking Add.
·
The Graph Value Groups can be utilized when you wish to group a
series of data to specific groups.
·
The Image Info tab is
used to specify size and alignment of your image. Additionally, you can specify
the border size on this tab.
The only other you will need to do is place your “Image Data
Collector” (
) on the
correct line. For instance, if I was interested on displaying graphed data from
the Detail line, I would then place
the image data collector on the Detail Line. Click Save and Run your
application. It’s that easy!
