IBM recognizes the mrc-Productivity Series on its iSeries Developer Roadmap

January 28, 2005— mrc, producer of the mrc-Productivity Series and m-PowerTM, announced today that their mrc-Productivity Series tool has been added to IBM's iSeries Developer roadmap in the Better User Interface and Better Portability sections of the roadmap.

"IBM has put a rule in place right now that only allows vendors to be listed in two of the five stages. However, we feel the mrc-Productivity Series has a place in all of them with its extensive Java capabilties," said Heather Gately, mrc's Marketing Director.

IBM added the mrc-Productivity Series to its iSeries Developer Roadmap yesterday, recognizing the software vendor as one of the top tools enabling iSeries developers to expedite their trip through the iSeries Developer Roadmap.

mrc understands the iSeries Developer roadmap very well, having firsthand experience with it.

"One of the more interesting facts about our roadmap participation is that as a software vendor with a product with its roots in RPG, we needed to bring our product through the roadmap in order to remain competitive. Our developers used the mrc-Productivity Series tool to not only modernize itself, but to take us through the Better Portability stage, and create m-PowerTM an entirely Java-based development tool that can run on any system(s) and access any database(s)," explained Gately.

"Its capabilities have opened up a new partnership channel as well that we didn't initially consider. We've had a lot of business application vendors show an interest in the new product to quickly modernize their own applications and bring them to the Better Portability stage, so that they may open up new sales channels themselves to companies running on a mix of different platforms and different database configurations. We're very excited about helping other businesses achieve what we achieved, using of the Developer Roadmap."

One other change that has interested application vendors is in mrc's new pricing. "Our software price point is much lower than the original mrc-Productivity Series pricing, and the licensing structure has changed," explained Sal Stangarone, mrc Director of Business Development, "The new pricing frees vendors from paying for additional licenses for each iSeries that they use at client sites. The development speed, and lower pricing has turned a lot of heads."

mrc has been producing award-winning development software since 1981, opening its US offices in 1981, and its London division in 1994. The company's flagship product, the mrc-Productivity Series, is the only iSeries (AS/400) development tool suite to provide Web development, rapid application development, and real-time reporting capabilities in one package.

mrc also produces m-PowerTM, a fully portable, Java-based database-independent development software tool patterned after the mrc-Productivity Series for creating Web applications.
