Question: When running a report I get a joblog that states: "Receiver value too small to hold result" and it also gives me statement number.
What happened ? It used to work before!

Answer:
This message is displayed when a calculated field is defined as 5.0 numeric, for example, and you are trying to store a value that is 7.0. This happens when you multiply, add, and sum fields and don't forecast for the growth of the value.
First, in order to determine which calculation is the one causing this problem (if you have multiple calculations), go to option 6-Application Defaults of your report and specify:
Job queue or Online . . . . . O to run the report interactively.
Then, after the job completes, run CRTRPGMOD MODULE(DDICTIONARY/RXXXXX)
(where DDICTIONARY is your data dictionary name and RXXXXX is your report#) command to create an RPG module that will allow you to look up statement number indicated in the joblog and find name of the field that is giving you a problem.
You can also go to QRPGLESRC in your data dictionary and put 15- Create Module next to your report.
NOTE: Make sure that you have your data dictionary and MRCAPPLLIB in your library list. After the RPG module is created do WRKSPLF and look for your RXXXXX, go to the statement that was indicated in your joblog. You then can determine which calculation needs to be updated.
Increase the size of your calculation in the report and recompile it.
