mrc introduces new m-Power version:
Web 2.X templates for all m-Power applications

December 4, 2006, Lombard, IL -Software maker mrc today made what are expected to be the first of three major announcements that the software maker has planned. mrc produces m-Power and the mrc-Productivity Series, two development tool suites that allow users to rapidly create custom business Web applications in Java, without writing a single line of code.

Today's announcement focuses on the Web 2.X capabilities that their new software update will offer.Web 2.0 is a fairly new concept to the B2B community, but here is the gist of its definition in regard to B2B impact, according to Heather Gately, mrc's Marketing Director:

"The main point of Web 2.0's focus is on interaction, and from a B2B perspective, its definition is 'Network as a platform'. In other words, it allows users to access business applications entirely through their Web-browser, like reports on an executive dashboard, for example. In addition, it incorporates new technologies to improve speed of information retrieval and analysis as well as new intuitive and streamlined methods of accessing information, such as AJAX "

Gately adds, "Web 2.X is focusing on not only creating applications that will contain these new technologies, but are built to be flexible in incorporating other technologies and the offerings that are coming in the future that will define 2.X and beyond. "

The new templates mark some major capability advancements that were built to bring applications to Web 2.0 standards, and beyond. Here are just a few:

  • Applications built with these templates are lightning fast because the code base of the new application is about 1/10 of that of the old templates.

  • Scalability is through the roof because of its multi-thread design. This means 50-95% faster response rate due to more efficient processing, and allows simultaneous usage with increased performance.

  • Faster response times via AJAX-enabled features: Because your applications incorporate AJAX technology, users get the power and security of the network, but the feel of running their applications locally.

  • Incorporation of powerful outside technology: m-Power's new import function means any generated application can import any other applications including resources residing on other servers. Your developers can keep your users constantly up to date with the latest offerings-even when they don't come from mrc.

  • Tremendous flexibility (and insurance): The entire base of all of the applications is written in Java, so customers do not have to fear their success being tied to the success of any one vendor, proprietary language, platform, or database. If any one of those components disappears (vendor goes under, platform is discontinued, etc.) your new applications have the flexibility to simply port over to another solution.

  • Stay tuned over the next few weeks for the upcoming announcements regarding improved business intelligence and new changes that will be specific to consulting firms and business application vendors.
