  • Tech Tip: Customize servlet graphs to display values
    .

When you create a Java servlet graph over multiple records using m-Power or the mrc-Productivity Series you will get, by default, a generic legend, with corresponding numbers related to each bar. However, you probably want to customize your graph to display more detailed information, which is easy to do.

Create file joins on dissimilar fields

What does this mean for you?

SQL is very powerful. Among the many things it can do is allow file joins with fields of dissimilar attributes such as alpha to numeric, 6.0 numeric to 8.0 numeric, etc. Because of this power, SQL is very useful when creating applications that share data from tables made by different vendors or by rogue consultants who failed to follow corporate standards.

Due to limitations of traditional IBM join logical files, iSeries application designers often struggled to work with files of dissimilar attributes. Because mrc takes advantage of SQL in its n-tier Java servlet architecture, users of mrc-Productivity Series and m-Power no longer face that difficulty. They can join files easily, even under these circumstances.
