Yesterday was a big day. It was the first day of the 2011 baseball season! If you’re a baseball fan, here’s a cool app that you might like. It combines our national pastime with business intelligence. Basically, it lists all the baseball stats from 1970-2009, and even has a chart illustrating the rise in home runs over time. It lets you sort by all major offensive categories (with the arrows) and drill down within the application by clicking on the little “+” icons. You can even filter the whole application by year or team by selecting any of options on the left and hitting “Run Report”.
But, the point of this web app isn’t to present you with easily understandable baseball data, although it does that very nicely. The point is this: It was created by someone who likes baseball, but doesn’t know a thing about programming or creating BI applications. The surprising part: From finding and sorting the data to building the app with m-Power, it only took an hour.
Think about this: If someone who doesn’t know anything about programming or business intelligence could put that together in an hour, imagine what you could do. That could just as easily be your data in that app, and it could just as easily be you building BI apps so quickly.
If your business intelligence has room for improvement, you should check out m-Power. We’ve even set up a free m-Power trial, with a guided on-screen tour to walk you through the process of building a simple web app.
