Here’s some good news to brighten your day. Every year, Computerworld.com runs a survey to gauge IT hiring trends for the coming year. This year, their survey showed that IT hiring will increase going into 2012. That’s three straight years of IT hiring increases.
This is welcome news for IT professionals, but I think companies should pay close attention to hiring trends as well. The most in-demand IT skills usually dictate tech trends. They give you insight into which areas other tech leaders have focused their attention.
So, which IT skills are most sought-after going into 2012? Computerworld provides us with a list of the 9 hot IT skills for 2012. It’s no surprise that application development tops the list. Companies that still haven’t brought their applications to the web are struggling to catch up. Companies that have web apps are now working to extend those to mobile devices. In each case, web developers are needed.
Are you surprised any skills were left off of the list? I’d love to hear them in the comments.
