As we’ve learned with the rise of social networks and social apps, the internet is the perfect collaboration tool. We can comment on most anything online these days–Blog posts, news articles, videos, pictures, and more.
That being said, the social revolution has largely skipped one area: Business apps. While I’m sure that some business applications incorporate commenting and social interaction, I’ve noticed a distinct lack of this ability in the business application world. Why?
1. Business Intelligence applications: Suppose you’re looking at a BI application and notice an interesting trend. Wouldn’t it be great if you could add a comment directly to that application?
2. Product listing applications: Suppose you’re looking at your product listing application, and you have a suggestion for one product. Rather than emailing that suggestion to the appropriate parties, what if you could just add a comment to that product within the application?
Now, the examples listed above are just two simple ideas, but adding social interaction to your business applications is incredibly useful in all sorts of ways. The best part: It’s really not that hard to do! We’ve written up a tutorial that walks you through the process used to create the two demo applications above.
