The pandemic (and the subsequent move to remote work) only furthered its adoption.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mrc-productivity.com\/blog\/2020\/09\/whats-driving-the-growth-of-low-code-software\/\" class=\"internal-link\">The recent spike in low-code usage<\/a> got me thinking: What does the low-code market look like now? Where will it be in a few years? How are modern businesses using low-code?<\/p>\n<p>To answer those questions, I did some research. I\u2019ve found many different low-code reports, studies, and surveys and compiled those statistics into this article. One thing to keep in mind while you&#8217;re reading: Some of these surveys and statistics say similar things, especially when it comes to predictions. I included them because they help paint a complete picture. Low-code is growing and will continue to grow in the coming years. How much will it grow? That&#8217;s hard to say. But multiple studies and research firms agree on one thing: The low-code market isn&#8217;t slowing down anytime soon.<br \/>\n<a name=\"20180321\"><\/a><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Low-Code Predictions<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The global low-code development platform market is predicted to <strong>generate a revenue of $187.0 billion by 2030<\/strong>, rising from $10.3 billion in 2019. It\u2019s expected to advance at a fast pace, 31.1% CAGR, during the forecast period (2020-2030). &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.globenewswire.com\/news-release\/2020\/11\/10\/2123468\/0\/en\/Global-187-Billion-Low-Code-Development-Platform-Market-to-2030.html\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>) <\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li> By 2025, <strong>70% of new applications<\/strong> developed by organizations will use low-code or no-code technologies, up from less than 25% in 2020. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gartner.com\/en\/newsroom\/press-releases\/2021-11-10-gartner-says-cloud-will-be-the-centerpiece-of-new-digital-experiences\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>) <\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>By 2024, <strong>80% of technology products<\/strong> and services will be built by those who are not technology professionals, according to Gartner, Inc. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gartner.com\/en\/newsroom\/press-releases\/2021-06-10-gartner-says-the-majority-of-technology-products-and-services-will-be-built-by-professionals-outside-of-it-by-2024\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong>65%+ of application development<\/strong> activity will be a result of low-code application development, by 2024. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/top-8-trends-shaping-digital-transformation-in-2021\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>In this report, <strong>82% of businesses<\/strong> reported that citizen developers will become more important over the next two years. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.techrepublic.com\/article\/report-60-of-apps-are-built-outside-of-it-and-thats-a-good-thing\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Statista forecasts the global low-code platform market to amount to approximately <strong>65 billion U.S. dollars by 2027<\/strong>. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/1226179\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>This research firm forecasts the low-code market revenue in <strong>2027 to be 86.92 billion<\/strong>. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandviewresearch.com\/industry-analysis\/low-code-application-development-platform-market\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>The low-code market is expected to grow at a compound annual <strong>growth rate of 22.7%<\/strong> from now until 2027.  &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandviewresearch.com\/industry-analysis\/low-code-application-development-platform-market\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>By 2024, <strong>75% of large enterprises<\/strong> will be using at least four low-code development tools for both IT application development and citizen development initiatives. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/joyform.io\/pages\/blog\/no-code-statistics-2022\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Low-Code Usage Stats<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<strong>10.<\/strong> <strong>41% of respondents<\/strong> in one Gartner survey claimed to already have active citizen development initiatives. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.gartner.com\/jason-wong\/importance-citizen-development-citizen\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>According to one report, <strong>nearly 60% of all custom apps<\/strong> are now built outside the IT department. Of those, 30% are built by employees with either limited or no technical development skills. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.techrepublic.com\/article\/report-60-of-apps-are-built-outside-of-it-and-thats-a-good-thing\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong>90% of no-code users<\/strong> think their company has been able to grow faster due to its no-code usage. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/zapier.com\/blog\/no-code-report\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong>85% of no-code users<\/strong> plan to use no-code tools more in the next year. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/zapier.com\/blog\/no-code-report\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Low code\/no-code solutions have the potential to <strong>reduce app development time by 50-90%<\/strong>. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.redhat.com\/cms\/managed-files\/mi-451-research-intelligent-process-automation-analyst-paper-f11434-201802.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>According to one survey, <strong>58% of respondents say that their legacy systems<\/strong> have been transformed or replaced by low-code applications. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/1263286\/low-code-benefits-organizations-adopting\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Those who use low-code are <strong>developing applications 56% faster.<\/strong> &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/1263286\/low-code-benefits-organizations-adopting\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong>56% of solutions<\/strong> built with low-code would not have been delivered in an acceptable timeframe without it. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/1263286\/low-code-benefits-organizations-adopting\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>On average, low-code leads to a <strong>53% savings in software development costs<\/strong>. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/1263286\/low-code-benefits-organizations-adopting\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong>Low-code has a 83 percent positive impact <\/strong>on work satisfaction and workload by users, and an 80 percent positive impact on morale by users. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/cloudblogs.microsoft.com\/powerplatform\/2022\/05\/24\/low-code-trend-report-2022-building-a-learning-culture-on-a-low-code-platform\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong>84% of enterprises<\/strong> have turned toward low-code\/no-code for their ability to reduce strain on IT resources, increase speed-to-market, and involve the business in digital asset development. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/userguiding.com\/blog\/no-code-low-code-statistics\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Low-code solutions are becoming central to business operations. Among those using low code, <strong>33% have used it to build mission-critical apps.<\/strong> &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reworked.co\/information-management\/whats-behind-the-explosion-of-low-code-and-no-code-applications\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>In organizations that use low code, <strong>more than half (56%) of employees<\/strong> are now using apps built on low-code platforms. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reworked.co\/information-management\/whats-behind-the-explosion-of-low-code-and-no-code-applications\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>A survey by IDC found that <strong>48.6% of respondents<\/strong> purchasing low-code or no-code platforms are doing so to move innovation in-house. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/zapier.com\/blog\/no-code-report\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>General Statistics<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>There are more than <strong>690,000 computer science jobs open (unfilled)<\/strong> in the US, and it is projected to grow at a rate of 2x other job fields, driving the push towards low-code. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/code.org\/promote\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong>93% of CIOs<\/strong> say the Great Resignation has made it harder to hire skilled developers. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.computerworld.com\/article\/3658908\/how-low-code-tools-are-filling-a-void-caused-by-the-great-resignation.html\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong>82 percent of low- or no-code users<\/strong> agree that the technology helps provide an opportunity for software users to improve their development knowledge and technical skills. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/cloudblogs.microsoft.com\/powerplatform\/2022\/05\/24\/low-code-trend-report-2022-building-a-learning-culture-on-a-low-code-platform\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong>24% of users<\/strong> had no experience at all before using low-code\/no-code platforms. 40% of those users have mostly business backgrounds. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/userguiding.com\/blog\/no-code-low-code-statistics\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong>41% said no-code<\/strong> was more than 6x more affordable vs. traditional programming. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/joyform.io\/pages\/blog\/no-code-statistics-2022\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong>90% of no-code<\/strong> users think their company has been able to grow faster due to its no-code usage. &#8212; (<a href=\"https:\/\/zapier.com\/blog\/no-code-report\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a>)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>An IDC survey found that <strong>39.3% of enterprises<\/strong> who are adopting low-code tools are doing so for \u2018pandemic-related\u2019 reasons. &#8212;
