Validate User Input with SQL External Object
This External Object shows how you can harness the power of SQL to validate user input on applications such as Reports and Maintainers. This object will compare a user?s two inputs. If the end date is before the start date, an error message will appear and the form will not be submitted.
When calling this function, be sure to use the *FLDVALID Object location. The first parameter must be a 99 field. Be sure that it is set to ?Not Required? as this field must not be mapped in your application. Take care to not click the ?Stored Procedure? button after registering your parameters. Clicking on this function will erase your SQL object. This object assumes you are using two 8,0 dates. Since these are standard numeric fields (rather than dates), they must be entered in as YYYY-MM-DD
