7 technologies businesses should be thankful for

ThanksgivingSummary: As we approach another Thanksgiving, let’s take a look at a common question from a business angle. What is your business thankful for this year? In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we’ve come up with a list of 7 technologies that we’re thankful for. Can you add anything to the list?

As another Thanksgiving rolls around, let’s take a step back and examine a few things to be thankful for…with a twist. Seeing as this blog focuses on business technology, let me ask you a question: What is your business thankful for? What technologies make your life easier, and help your business succeed?

With that question in mind, we came up with a list of our own. Not all of them will apply to every business, but all of the technologies listed below help drive our business in one way or another.

This year, we are thankful for…

  • Mobile technology, which puts our business data at our fingertips whenever we need it.
  • Responsive (and adaptive) design, which makes our web apps adapt to the device on which they’re viewed.
  • Open source technology, which reduces development costs and doesn’t lock us into proprietary technology.
  • HTML5, which brings offline capabilities (among other features) to our web applications.
  • Web services, which lets different systems communicate with each other.
  • Java, which gives our web applications portability, and doesn’t lock us down to any platform or database.
  • n-Tier architecture, which simplifies our application maintenance and lets them easily scale to meet our needs.

How about you? What technology is your business thankful for? Feel free to share in the comments.

Finally, from all of us here at mrc, we wish you safe travels and a very happy Thanksgiving!
