Refreshing Header Menu and Security Settings

m-Power allows for a widely customizable dictionary menu. Saving changes to the menu will be seen immediately on the menu screen:

However, if utilizing the header menu (seen in the header of each screen) the menu changes will not take effect until the Tomcat browser session has been restarted:

Similarly, there are also many dictionary security settings that can be set in m-Power. Common settings include changing the validation type, changing the database table used for validation, or opting applications out of security amongst many other options.

These security settings also do not do not take effect until the Tomcat browser session is restarted. This often means accessing the server and manually restarting Tomcat. This process of manually restarting Tomcat can be disruptive to the flow of m-Power development. After the Q1 2022 update, developers are now able to manually refresh the Tomcat browser session to see immediate changes made to the header menu or the security settings.

Once the menu or security setting change has been saved, simply run any application or menu and append “?init=1” to the URL. This will refresh the Tomcat browser session and the changes will be made effective immediately.
